This is an unpopular opinion because anything that requires spending money is unpopular, but it’s nevertheless very important.
If you love something, please support it.
Don’t let it die.
I often see posts on tumblr from people (often young and as a result having less money available) saying they have no intention whatsoever of buying something, but will still take what they want without paying.
It’s very frequent in particular to see people wanting to watch the STID gag reel but refusing to pay for the product they are consuming.
I too hate spending my hard earned money, but when it’s spent on something I love, I consider it a worthy use of it. It’s how that works.
The compendium has so much bonus material, AND costs a mere $33.
It’s a US release and in the US that price is about as much as going for a lunch for two at a cheap restaurant.
I don’t know about you, but if I had to choose between those two things, I’d much rather eat instant ramen at home with my compendium bluray than go to a restaurant…
Please, consider supporting the franchise and buying what you want to watch, so that they go on to making gag reels and featurettes etc.
Yes, many of us get annoyed at multiple releases for a same movie. Yes, I get it. But that’s a long time industry-wide practice, it’s not fair to single out Star Trek and punish Trek as a whole for something Hollywood always does in all franchises.
It’s how the market currently works, sadly. We can choose to support our favorite franchises or not, but if we don’t, then we must accept that we are harming the thing we love. We can’t claim we love something, and pirate it.
What I want to know is why the compendium is Blu ray only. I don’t have a Blu ray player, just a DVD player. Anyone know of any plans to dual release this set on DVD?
